KAIST Data Mining Lab was established in December 2010 when Prof. Jae-Gil Lee joined KAIST. Our lab is investigating various issues and challenges of data mining which is roughly defined as extraction of interesting patterns or knowledge from huge amount of data. We are developing innovative data mining algorithms and creative knowledge services. We have done world-class research published at premier venues such as KDD, PVLDB, SIGMOD, WebConf, and ICML. Our lab has strength on data analysis especially for mobility data and stream data. The importance of such emerging data types is being widely recognized with the advance of mobile devices and sensors as well as the widespread adoption of the Internet-of-Things. Recently, we are extending our research scope to "deep learning"-based data analysis and distributed deep learning. Many graduates of our lab are playing important roles in data analysis industry and academia. Our lab has been selected as a "SW Star Lab" by the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2020.
