The name of the institute was changed to Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). |

KAIST was established under the name of Korea Advanced Institute of Science (KAIS) in Hongneung Campus, Seoul on February 16, 1971 as the first research-oriented science and technology graduate school in Korea. |
